Two interesting things happened when Charles Barkley, host of the TNT program "Inside the NBA," was evaluating the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks.

The Indiana Pacers defeated the Boston Celtics 122-112 on Monday night to advance to the semifinals of the NBA Intra-Seasonal Championship. Tyrese Halliburton led the Pacers with his first career triple-double, scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists.

Charles Barkley, who watched the game from the TNT studios, commented on the excitement and energy of the Pacers on the national stage.

"We talked a little bit last night," Barkley said." They're excited to be on TV."

Ernie Johnson, Barkley's co-host, couldn't resist playfully teasing Barkley about his own tendency to dominate on TV.

"Kind of like you do every night ...... " Johnson teased. Johnson teased.

Johnson's words left Barkley momentarily speechless.

Barkley doubts Knicks' ability to dominate East

Charles Barkley is skeptical of the New York Knicks' potential to dominate the Eastern Conference.

"Ernie, the last three years. The Knicks are the same team, am I right?" Barkley said. Barkley said, "They haven't added anything new. They haven't added anything new." Barkley said, "It's impossible to think that this trade would have ended differently. The Knicks need to make a trade because they are, at best ...... Boston, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, they're at a whole new level in the Eastern Conference."

Another co-host, Kenny Smith, agreed with Barkley's assessment.

"That's why the Knicks will always be in the middle of the pack," Smith said." Every game, they always have the second-best player. You play Boston, you get the second- or third-best player. ... You don't have the best players on the floor.

Despite having some talented players, the Knicks haven't brought in a true superstar since trading for Carmelo Anthony in the 2010-11 season.
